Cuboree Ideas Meeting

Preparation for Cuboree 2020 is well under way – it is only 15-16 months away!


I need to prepare the program for the activity base – theme “OCEANS”.

And I need help with getting some great ideas together.


I am not asking anyone to attend Cuboree, this meeting is purely about getting some great activity ideas in motion, so I can progress with the planning.


When – Saturday 1st September – 3pm to 5pm

Where – 3rd Mortdale Scout Hall – Glen Road, Oatley

Who – anyone who would like to contribute to ideas for Cuboree activity base – scouts, venturers, rovers, leaders, parents …….

What – Floating ideas to create an amazing activity base for the Cuboree – afternoon tea provided.


Budget – we have a massive budget this time around, so can look at a whole range of activities.

Boree Regatta 19-21 October




What is the Endeavour Boree Regatta ?

  •  The Boree Regatta is a combination of two events, the first Boree (land events) was held in 1965 and the first Regatta was held to mark the 60th anniversary of 1st Cronulla Scout Group. Following the success of these two activities, in 1975 it was decided to combine them both into the Boree Regatta.
  • Today, the Boree Regatta attracts participants from both the Scout and Guide Associations from across the Region.


The theme for 2018 is “Pirates and Buccaneers.”

Date:   19th to 21st October 2018

Venue:   Bonna Point,  Kurnell

Prerequisite:   Being a registered member of either the Guide or Scout Association

Region Commissioner Joey Scouts


Scouts Australia NSW – South Metropolitan Region is currently seeking applications for the role of Region Commissioner (Joeys).

This is a Voluntary position.

  1. The Region Commissioner Joey Scouts will lead their Region Joey Scout Council (Wandarrah) which is empowered to support the program of Scouting which is delivered at the Region level and by Groups in sections.
  2. The Region Commissioner Joey Scouts is a member of the Region Team and will be called upon by the Region Commissioner to assist with Region initiatives.

Venturer Leadership Course – 29-30 Sept *CORRECT DATE*

Submit E1 form and payment to South Metropolitan Region Office by the closing date

Team building, problem solving, decision making and understanding of different Leadership styles are some of the benefits of attending this course.  Whether to help you in your role in your Unit Council, assist with your part time job or to provide a solid foundation for your future career, this course is an excellent investment of your time in Scouting.  A fair degree of maturity is required of those applying for this course and it is not unreasonable to expect applicants to have some experience in the Venturer Unit and should have at least have completed their Venturer Skills Award.

Note -

  • A minimum age of 16 is preferred for this course, though applicants from 15½ may be enrolled with their Leader’s recommendation – after consultation with the course leader.
  • Applications are open from 23rd July 2018.
  • Application will close 10th September.  No late applications will be accepted. Course will close early once all places are filled.
  • This course has a maximum of 25 participants and a limit of 4 per Venturer Unit will be set to enable the maximum opportunity for all Units to attend.  Applications above that will be placed in a waiting list till closing date.  If there are still vacancies at that stage additional invitations will be issued.
  • Full Uniform is essential, Bring your Venturer Record Book, pen and notebooks.
  • Full course information will be provided within the acceptance e-mail.

SEAC – State Environment Camp 12-14 Oct

SEAC – State Environment Activity Camp


The State Environment Activity Camp is back for 2018, and all Cubs, Scouts and Venturers are invited to attend!

What:                   SEAC – State Environment Activities Camp. The State Environment Team are running this event.

When:                  Friday 12th  -  Sunday 14th October 2018

Who:                    Open to Cubs, Scouts and Venturers.  There is a limit, get in quick.

Where:                Camp Coutts


Join the NSW Youth Environment Team and Scouts from across NSW for a weekend of hands-on activities including:

  • helping build a habitat trail
  • water monitoring
  • meeting our native wildlife up close
  • exploration wide games
  • recycled art
  • spotlighting
  • guest presenters, and much more!


  • Cubs and Scouts can complete part of their World Scout Environment Badge
  • Venturers can earn their Venturer-level Environment Tape
